Judge Blackburn Reinstates Burn Ban
Belton, TX – On Thursday, March 3, Bell County Judge David Blackburn issued an order prohibiting outdoor burning in unincorporated areas of the county, effective Saturday, March 5, at 6:00 a.m.
“We have been in regular conversations with the Bell County Fire Marshall,” Judge Blackburn said. “At this time, we have determined that the current dry conditions have created a public safety hazard that can only be made worse by outdoor burning.”
The order will be in effect until Saturday, March 12, at 6:00 a.m. However, the order can be extended by order of the Bell County Commissioners Court. Discussion of the Burn Ban will be an agenda item during Monday’s Commissioners Court meeting.
Violation of the Burn Ban is a Class C Misdemeanor, punishable by a fine up to $500.
Citizens are urged to use extreme caution and responsible judgment.

Update on BEC Communications: The processes of laying conduit, wiring/splicing from the main line down streets and then to individual poles, and connecting/splicing fiber to the houses is still in process. Once a considerable amount of these are done the home installer group will start contacting each individual house to set up the home installation. Getting closer!

High Speed Internet:
Installation is already in progress to all HS. It will be done in groups or streets/areas. They will be continuing to add those members of HS who are directly on the "Spine" of HS. This will be followed by those shorter streets, and finally branching out to all other streets. The further you are to the "spine" the longer it will take unfortunately. They have already started with some additions and are splicing the fiber line to start down some of the streets. They will continue to do Maintenance of the Right of Way for the power lines, which may include trimming trees and adding support wires to existing poles.
I will be keeping in touch with the BEC and will post major updates as I get them.
